Interview Tips

You know it’s critical to make a good impression in your interview. ReadyNurse has some tools to help. The checklist below will guide you with strategies and techniques to use for your next successful interview.

Pay attention to details. Your personal appearance, punctuality and demeanor help make a powerful impression. Be sure to check our list of questions to ask during your interview. After all, they're not only interviewing you—you're interviewing them!

Know the Position

Ask ReadyNurse for a full description of the position, including the pay rate, bonuses, benefits, etc. The more you know about the position, the better prepared you’ll be during the interview.

Do Your Homework

Learn as much as you can about the client through your recruiter, Internet research, newspaper articles, annual reports and web sites. Your preparation shows that you are motivated, hardworking and proactive.

Practice

Practice for your interview the way you would for a test or a major presentation. Our list of interview questions can help you resolve issues before they occur.

Project a Positive Attitude

A phone interview is as important as a face-to-face meeting. Express your positive attitude through the sound of your voice.

Pay Attention

Listen carefully to what the interviewer says, but also observe how he or she shares the information. You’ll get a sense of the manager’s personality while you gather valuable information about the hospital and the unit. Don’t forget to take notes; you will keep your memory accurate and show the interviewer you are serious about the position.

Ask Good Questions

Prepare a few good questions from your research to show your interest in the organization and the position. Stay away questions where you could easily find the answer yourself.

Be confident

Present your skills, experience and achievements. Now is the time to sell yourself! Share your strengths to show why you are the best candidate for the position.

Ask for the Assignment

Before the end of the interview, ask about the next step in the process – or even ask for the job. Ask if your qualifications match the company’s needs. This question gets right to the point and lets the interviewer know you are serious about employment.

After the interview, call your travel specialist immediately. He or she will follow up with the facility to find out if you have been offered the position.
